Dr Marshall earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology degree and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of Arts in Biology degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and completed a residency in Clinical Pathology at the Ohio State University and a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking at Ohio State University. He is board certified in Clinical Pathology and Transfusion Medicine.
Following his fellowship he has held the following positions: Associate Medical Director of the Transfusion Service at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital (the second largest hospital in the United States), as Medical Director at the American Red Cross (Greater Ozarks Region with 56 hospital customers), and as Medical Director of the Transfusion Service at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (the largest stem cell transplant center in the United States). Currently, Dr Marshall is Medical Director of the transfusion services at Memorial Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital and is Medical Director of the Central Illinois Community Blood Center which has a high complexity immunohematology reference lab and a large therapeutic apheresis service. Dr Marshall has been a board member of the Heart of America Association of Blood Banks and Illinois Association of Blood Banks and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Marshall’s interests include transfusion medicine, coagulation, and therapeutic apheresis.
