Dr. Jones was born in Atlanta, Georgia.  She received an Associates Degree (AAS) in medical laboratory technology from Cincinnati Technical College.  She then pursued a bachelors degree in Microbiology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

After spending 3 years working in immunology research at the Gamble Institute of Medical Research in Cincinnati, she attended medical school at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. 

She completed an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the Cleveland Clinic with special emphasis in cytopathology.
