Dr. Chen received his medical degree from Xiangya Medical School (previously Hunan Medical University), Changsha, Hunan, China and his Ph.D. degree in neuroscience from Drexel School of Medicine (previously MCP-Hahnemann University), Philadelphia, PA. He completed his residency training in pathology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY, under the directorship of Dr. Leonard B. Kahn, and a dermatopathology fellowship under the directorship of the late Dr. Bernard Ackerman at Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology, New York. Before joining PACI in 2017, Dr. Chen worked as staff pathologist/dermatopathologist and then as Chief of Dermatopathology at the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and Department of Dermatology, Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine for many years. He is board certified in clinical & anatomic pathology and dermatopathology. He is a member of American Society of Dermatopathology, International Society of Dermatopathology, and College of American Pathologists, the Editorial Board of the journal Dermatology Practical & Conceptual. His main interest is in tumor biology, melanocytic lesions and skin adnexal neoplasms.
