Medical Microbiology is a branch of medicine concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infections and communicable diseases. Our pathologists are involved in the following activities:
- Offer consultations to clinicians regarding appropriate testing for infectious disease
- Offer consultations to clinicians regarding interpretation of infectious disease testing
- Offer consultation to the hospital infection control program
- Manage and direct the diagnostic microbiology laboratory.
In addition to these primary activities, our pathologists are also involved in teaching medical students, residents, and allied health professionals.
