Michael J. Beckmann Pathology Associates of Central IllinoisDr. Junaid Baqai, M.D.
Joined PACI in 2014

Dr. Baqai was born in Chicago, IL but spent most of his life in Karachi, Pakistan. He came to the United States after graduating from one of the most oldest and prestigious medical college in Pakistan, DOW Medical College. He did his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology from Danbury Hospital, CT followed by hematopathology fellowship from William Beaumont Hospital, Michigan and oncologic-surgical pathology fellowship from Roswell Park Cancer Institute, New York. Throughout his training, he has been extensively involved in teaching residents, medical students, and undergraduates. During his training, he has presented multiple research papers in local and national conferences. He is currently board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology.

Dr. Baqai has particular expertise in hematopathology (bone marrow evaluations, lymph nodes, hemostasis, hemoglobin electrophoresis and flow cytometry). He has been appointed Clinical Assistant Professor at the Southern Illinois College of Medicine. He also serves as Medical Director of hematology, coagulation and flow cytometry at Memorial Medical Center.

In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, spending time with family and traveling.
